HELLO TEXTURE — CLIENT STYLE APPROVAL GUIDE

How We Decide Which Styles Are Right for Your Hair

At Hello Texture Salon, every style recommendation is made with your hair health as the priority, not just how long a style lasts or what’s trending.

This guide explains how we approve styles, why some styles may be delayed or declined, and how this protects your long-term hair goals.

Why We Don’t Approve Every Style

Not all hair is in the same phase.

Some hair is in maintenance mode.
Some hair is in repair mode.

A style that works beautifully for one client can cause serious setbacks for another — especially with fine hair, thinning edges, or breakage.

Our responsibility is to:

  • Protect your hair integrity

  • Prevent avoidable damage

  • Support long-term growth and retention

How We Assess Style Suitability

Before approving a style, we consider:

1. Hair Phase

  • Repair Mode: limited styles, low tension, frequent cleansing

  • Maintenance Mode: more flexibility, but still structured

2. Strand Size & Density

  • Fine hair cannot tolerate the same weight or tension as coarse hair

  • Larger braids or heavy installs can cause faster breakage

3. Hairline & Temple Health

  • Thinning or fragile edges limit tight styles

  • Repeated tension can lead to traction alopecia

4. Scalp Access

If you can’t properly wash and treat your scalp, the style may not be approved.

Styles We May Temporarily Restrict

These restrictions are not permanent — they are strategic.

During repair mode, we may advise against:

  • Back-to-back braids

  • Heavy box braids

  • Tight ponytails or buns

  • Styles that require constant pulling back

  • Long-term installs without scalp access

This is especially important for clients experiencing:

  • Temple thinning

  • Excessive breakage

  • Dehydration

  • Uneven growth

Styles We Often Recommend During Repair Mode

  • Mini twists

  • Flat twists

  • Loose, low-tension blow-dried styles

  • Low manipulation styles that allow washing every 2–3 weeks

These styles allow:

  • Scalp care

  • Hydration

  • Treatments to actually work

Why Longevity Is Not Our Goal

A style lasting 6–8 weeks does not mean it’s healthy.

Longevity achieved through:

  • Excessive tension

  • Heavy extensions

  • Tight installs

Often results in:

  • Breakage

  • Thinning edges

  • Slower progress

We prioritize hair outcomes, not just durability.

What Happens If a Style Isn’t Approved

If a requested style isn’t suitable:

  • We will explain why

  • Offer a healthier alternative

  • Create a timeline for when the style may be reintroduced

Our goal is never to say “no” — it’s to say “not yet, and here’s the plan.”
