Why I Built a Healthy Hair Salon in Lagos
As a Nigerian American, growing up in the United States and later relocating to Lagos, Nigeria, navigating hair care was never simple. Finding products and experts who understood curly, textured hair — without compromising its health — was a constant struggle. After settling in Lagos, that challenge only grew, shaped by beauty norms that prioritized style over the health of the hair underneath it. That frustration became the vision for Hello Texture, a hair salon built in Lekki, Lagos around one goal: healthy hair.
Consultations First, Not Guesses
When I built Hello Texture, I didn't want another salon that rushed through every service or treated moisture and protein treatments as a one-size-fits-all fix. I wanted a concept where every client started with a real consultation — not a guess — because your hair's actual needs, not a default routine, should decide your treatment. Styling was never meant to be the priority here. Healthy hair was.

That same principle shapes how we treat hair: with science, not shortcuts. Our treatments are backed by an understanding of hair and scalp biology, not just trend-driven ideas of what "healthy hair" should look like. We stay holistic — clean, plant-derived, cruelty-free products, free of harsh chemicals, sulfates, and parabens — but every recommendation is grounded in what actually works for your hair, not just what sounds good.

Hello Texture is a hair salon located in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, specializing in healthy hair and scalp care. Every service begins with a consultation to assess your hair and scalp before treatment. Our services include hair care treatments — deep conditioning, protein and bond repair, amino acid and keratin treatments — alongside dedicated scalp health services, and protective styling including natural sew-ins, micro links, flip-overs, and K-Tips and F-Tips.
