How to Create a Hair Routine for Longer Length

How to Create a Hair Routine for Longer Length

We want long hair, and we want it Now !! No matter the color, shape, ethnicity, or race, women all over the world hold covet long hair. Don't get me wrong, having long hair is goals for almost every women, but are you willing to put in the work to achieve that goal?

The issue for many women isn'y growing the hair, but doing the work to maintain the length. Even I have fallen a victim to this. So in 2024, we are doing it BIG ! We are going to create a hair routine that not only grows healthy long hair, but a routine that maximizes on retaining length.

At Hello Texture, we've created a simple routine for you to enjoy which will yield great results.

To keep you routine simple, remember these four steps: wash/cleanse, moisturize and protective style.

The first part of your routine is cleansing your scalp.

Cleanse

It's crucial to keep your scalp clean and healthy. Although some cleanse with just conditioner, I recommend using shampoo and detoxing with a scalp scrub every month to really cleanse your scalp off all that dirt and gunk. Hair growth starts at your scalp so a clean scalp encourages new and healthy growth. At HT, we recommend washing your hair every 2-3 weeks with scalp massages to circulate blood flow throughout your scalp.
After your shampoo, we recommend following up with a deep condition treatment for at least 30 minutes under heat or 1 hour if using no heat. After your deep condition, detangle your hair in parts and then wash off and finish off with a a moisturizing conditioner.
Moisturize
Moisturizing your hair and scalp is just as important as cleaning as this is where the real work continues. We recommend layering products into your hair routine to lock in your hair moisture to avoid dry or brittle hair. Afro hair is prone to breakage because of a lack of moisture so protecting your hair from elements will encourage hair growth. We encourage the LOC method for layering which is basically:

L - Apply a Liquid.

We recommend a water based leave in conditioner spray that has water as one of its main ingredients.

O - Seal in the moisture with an Oil.

Seal in your liquid with an oil or a mixed blend of oils. We recommend our in house HT oil blend for maximum hair growth and softness.

- Layer on a Cream.

One of the main ingredients should be water as well but it should have a much thicker consistency than your liquid leave in conditioner.

Style

Choosing your hairstyles are just as important as your wash hair routine. Low manipulation and protective hair styling are best. Any style that has your ends tucked away in a healthy manner will be a protective hair style. Styles such as braids, sew in's, glueless wigs, twists, or weaves can be protective styles. A good timeline to leave your protective styles in should stay in the 6-8 week range to keep your scalp clean and moisturized throughout.

We hope these tips health on helping you on your healthy hair journey. Remember whether you are relaxed, texlaxed, natural or in between, your hair can be healthy. To get more guidance please feel free to stop by our salon and choose any of our treatments or styles.
